Reply: (edit)I think the information you recived regarding limits of ME on RAM is inaccurate. I am currently running 288 MB RAM, and I am awaiting arrival of 256 more MB RAM. I think that ME can handle up to aout 1.2 GB RAM.

Reply: (edit)Hi! jeanie! I can tell you about my adding RAM. At the first of the year Dad and I bought a new simple computer. It was a Hewlett Packard Pavilion with the cheaper chip CELERON (lower cost). It came withe 64 RAM. In about 5 months,I put in a 128 RAM card. That gave me 192 RAM (i only have two slots to use).About a month on,I bought a 256 RAM card.I took out the 64 RAM card and put the 256 RAM card in.That gave me 384 RAM (128 + 256= 384). In another month on,I bought another 256 RAM card.I then took out the 128 RAM card and put in that 256 RAM card. --NOW I have 512 RAM (256+256=512)----jeanie!.that is the BEST thing I have ever done for my computer!!!. Wow!,the number of crashses and freeze ups came WAY! down. So glad I did it.ME now is running great.I did use the lower priced RAM which is working GREAT-------------Donald

Reply: (edit) jeanie, If your mobo doesn't have a limit(a low limit or some other kind of limit) you should be able to install the 512MB of RAM. As for the HD is set up for 512 didn't understand what you meant by that. I myself on one of my computers with Win ME OS run 1,536MB(CAS2) RAM. Correct me if I'm wrong on this some one Win ME will do 2Gigs. :-) possibly may do more :-)

Reply: (edit)Hi! jeanie! Its, me again.I think what the guy told you maybe right about the kind of memory for Pentium 4.I am looking at Sundays Paper. In the Circuit City add,I was looking at it has prices for diferent levels of memory. The Pentium 4 is a different add just for it.It says Upgrade your Pentium 4 PC Memory 256MBRAMGUS $109.99-$10.00 mfr mail in Rebate -a$5.00 Circuit mail in rebate== $94.99. This deal about no 512 in your computer,I think,is hogwash. If money is not to much of a problem, load your computer in your car with pillows around it and MARCH over and have them install two of those 256 MBRAMBUS if you want!!!.You will NEVER! regret it. LISTEN-Take your computer manual with you!.--also,You might give Hewlett Packard Tech Support a call and ask them about it just to ease your mind.NOTE: If you do call and talk to HP Tech Support, ask them if the 256 SDRAM will work in your Pentium 4.If they tell you yes and stand by it, then Wow! you can get a 256 PC133 SDRAM for $19.99!!!-----------If you want it-GO GET IT!---------------Donald

Reply: (edit)Jeanie, I have the same computer. As far as I know we have 4 memory slots in it. All of the slots have to be filled. And you have to install memory in like pairs. The 9870 comes with 128 megs of ram 2 64 meg sticks and 2 sticks with no memory but they have to be in there to complete the circuit. Mark
