memory leak

i think i may have a memory leak. system resources do not recover when i close a program. is there any other way to tell if i have a memory leak and if i do, how do i stop it?

soccerplaya2159, ME, as it came from the box was notorious for not releasing memory after it finished using it. Solution is to install/use a good memory manager. There're lots around and FWIW, I used a freebie called 'Cacheman' on mine and it REALLY helped. HTH. Ed in Texas.

ok i downloaded a memory manager but it didnt do much. do you think buying more RAM or memory would help with this problem and also help to increase the speed of my computer

"system resources"... adding more RAM, will NOT help your resources problem. That also goes for memory managers.
It's a problem with the software/programs/utilities, not releasing (bad) That's your 'leak'.
