They are right but for Windows ME I think you need FireFox 2, FF3 doesn't support it.

Or Internet Explorer 6 SP1 unless you already have it.

That is correct FF3 does not support ME you would have to find a older version of FF . I myself always use Netscape 9 which was based on FF but seems to rendered pages faster, unfortunetly they no longer make Netscape.

You can get the latest version of Firefox 2 from Mozilla
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefo...I had to download it myself recently running windows 98 in a virtual Machine. It was hard to find at first, but not near as hard as the IE6 sp1 from Microsoft was..

Another problem that may be causing this is if there is any viruses or spyware on your machine.
Make sure you have an up to date antivirus and scan regulary. I use Avast myself, and it has done a good job so far!

"internet explorer has caused an error and will close"
Unfortunately in the unsupported win9x based windows that happens quite often you can report it to Microsoft I think but they are not going to fix it because your OS is unsupported. Most likely it's time to upgrade your windows to win 2k not ME but the NT based one, or later operating system such as XP.
"use Avast myself, and it has done a good job so far!"I agree Avast is your one stop fix for anything that can threaten or compromise your computer. Stops attackers dead in there tracks.

To repair Internet Explorer 6, go to:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
On the "Install/Uninstall" tab, click "Internet Explorer 6". Then click "Add/Remove", select the option "Repair Internet Explorer", and click "OK".
Close all Internet Explorer windows before attempting this!
Alternatively, re-register the core Internet Explorer .dll files using the IEFIX utility:
