My Windows Media Player-9 latest ver., after working perfectly for some time no longer gets full screen video either in Internet plug-in mode or in direct mode with the exception that the visualizations still do. The biggest screen size available in direct standard mode is 2/3 of full. When you go into full mode it will show a little insert screen & then collapse back into regular mode. I've tried every possible setting & researched this problem until I've turned blue. Everything else on it works perfectly & RealPlayer & FlashPlayer do too! What file, extension, etc is missing or damaged ? Would a check of the registry files do any good ?
Fred Snowm, SWAG, resize the screen the way you like using the double ended arrows at the edges and once you're happy, close the screen using the option under 'file' rather than the handier 'X' at top right. That forces Windows to 'remember' your screen configuration and open it that way next time. You only need do that once. HTH. Ed in Texas.
Hi ED > Thanks for your input on this difficult problem The prob.is much more complex than this. Example, go to www.pbs.org/nbr > click onto the streaming video link for repeat of daily broadcasts > Win.Media Player > an imbeded tiny insert screen comes-up, with a click-on for full-screen. So here is where the problem comes into play on my Win.ME > MediaPlayer-9 comes on. Instead of getting fs.video,I get the tiny inset in the upper-left corner of my screen & it immediately crashes back-down into the previous screen format or sometimes crashes all together. If I enter the URL of the broadcast into my MediaPlayer's URL box [click-on File],up comes the complete MediaPlayer, the broadcast starts & if you play with the settings by r.click the image, you can get the actual video image to expand to about 2/3 of fs.size. If you click-on its fs. mode, it will do the above described sinnario. It used to work perfectly. It may have something to do with a damaged or missing file in Win.-ME itself or in MediaP. It started happening soon after I deleted some old AOL programs. Using GOBACK has been of no help. Note: To get a video or audio direct URL, for Firefox-2.0+ browsers go to Page Info.on the Tools button>media>in the address win.scroll down until you find the imbed link & type it into the Player's URL box. For IE browsers > click View button >Page Source info,it[ URL ] may be there if you look carefully or you can r.click the image>properties, it will also be there, but it may be hard to get all the info. Firefox is definitely the best choice for this kind of procedure. Also of special note: Win.MediaPlayer-9 insofar as I know it,can't be reinstalled on most Windows systems, especially ME on up. Later versions of MP can be reinstalled.
