After creating a clean boot disk in safe mode in Windows Me, and removing autoexecbat
and configsys.

I downloaded these BIOS files from Spacewalker.com, in order to flash my 661/2 Space Walker Mother board.
Awd776, an application
661UPD readme
6610S164, a bin file
At the A: prompt I have typed in AWD776 to start the FLASH MEMORY WRITER V7.76B
for:i440BX - ITE867 - 2A69KH28C - 0 DATE 02/08/1999

I am prompted to save BIOS and asked for a file name to program

I have typed in any version of 6610S164.BIN

pressed enter and

Flash Type - WINBOND 29C020 /5V
and do you want to save BIOS has come up and a screen to name file, I type in 29C020, which I presume relates to the old BIOS, and save When I look at the file I save to in windows, there is no file extension.

Next I always get the error message re file to program "Source file Not found!" which refers to 6610S164.BIN. floppy with file is definitly in drive.

Thinking there could a zero or letter in name, file extension missing, I have tried changing, but nothing has worked.

What am I doing wrong.

Help much appreciated

Thanks

Nils

Did you disable your BIOS guardian? Some motherboards have it in CMOS settings, some have a jumper on the board itself.

That type of error usually happens if your BIOS is flash protected (assuming the flash file's path is typed correctly). Remove your BIOS flash protection and you should be good to go.

Thanks rk,
I can't find anything in the bios that is obviously flash protection, on the Mother board, there is jumper that can be set to either,Flash EEPROM Vpp J17
one setting12V flash(Intel MXIC), AND 5v Flash (SST, Atmel).

What do you think,

Ta Nils
