This problem seems to be popping up a lot, I have seen it on a few forums -

If you have ME or 98 and get IE6 on the system, deleting files (I think deleting quite a few causes the fault) causes the system from that point onwards to freeze repeatedly after you do anything with IE6 or Explorer.

The system works absolutely fine apart from the massive delays that are apparent until you reboot.

The problem only seems to show up after updating to IE6.

Have any other users experienced this problem?

or

More to the point, those users that have ('cause I know I'm not the only one)
do you have any answers to why this is happening and maybe a fix???

Looks like another Micro$oft bug for the kids to play with. :-P

thanx

I have never had any trouble with the IE6 upgraded. But then I make sure the system is not corrupted and does not have problems before the upgrade. A lot of people develop problems that effect IE 5 and try to "fix" them by installing IE 6. Then they really have a mess.
