Hi,
Until yesterday I could make a zip.folder by right-clicking on the desktop and dragging the files into it.
Then I got a .sit file by e-mail and ME could not open it. I found a program called STUFFIT, downloaded and installed it. The sit file worked. But now ME doesn't give me anymore the possibility to create a zip folder! I uninstalled the STUFFIT-program and restarted my PC. I think I could use the STUFFIT-program instead, but only the expand part is free!!
I will be very gratefull for some help.
Thanks in advance

Just download winzip again, www.winzip.com, but make sure you uninstall your previos version (add remove programs.)

That's me again, the person that asked the question. I don't know much about computers, so: what steps do I take to do a system restore. Secondly, ME doesn't need WinZip, it has its own compression program. But evidently STUFFIT changed something and ME doesn't use his (her?) own program any longer.
Thanks for the quick answers, folks!!

No, No, I guess you could try system restore, but I would recommend uninstalling winzip throught add/remove programs in the control panel, then download it again. . .I dont know many programs that dont use winzip, I have not even heard of stuffit. There are many other compression filers out there like winace, winzip. . .these are the only two I use and they can open, compress basically any type of file.
Anyways
If you really want to do system restore. . .
My Computer, C:, Windows, System, Restore, and click on the icon that has a red arrow in front of it, then restore it to a date where your winzip was working or whatever.

STUFFIT changed your program associations. If you installed a program to run STUFFIT then uninstall it. Once you have removed the file asscociation you can right click on a compressed folder and select "open with" and then browse for explorer.
Additionally you can go into the add/remove programs under control panel and access the Windows setup tab...there you can reinstall the compression support for explorer.
