ME won't load

Comment:
I deleted a few files last night doing some random cleanups and may have accidentally deleted something. This morning ME loaded but with limited programs on the desktop (a blue screen and a few programs none of which work - - - IE, My documents, My computer, etc). Click on the Start button at the bottom and nothing happens. Tried to boot from a ME boot startup disk, but the computer won;t read the A drive at startup (message reads ' nonsystem disk or disk erro, rplace and strike any key when ready). Can't get to DOS to do a scanreg. Don't want to reinstall unless have no other options. Help.

If you undertake an over-the-top install you will only loose windows updates.

Sounds like your boot disk isn't a boot disk. Can you boot to a command prompt before Windows loads? Have you tried a restore to before you deleted the files?
