ME wont let me format my C:

CPU/Ram: pent 4

help... i tried to reinstall win Me, went thru Fdisk del pri part and non logical part, then created new primary partion set it as active, also created non logical partions. then shut down (microsoft 3 finger salute) haha. well i restarted "with cd-rom support" then taken to the A: so i then tried to format from that prompt
A: format C: /s
well i got an error saying
reading invalid media type.
abort, retry, fail?...
ok well it shouldnt have done that with the format command. so if anyone can help me please do...

1 what is size of hd, 2 why make all those partitions, 3 do the fdisk routine & press 4 to view partitions & see if c: is actually there & 4 why do format c:/s as /s makes drive bootable but me puts the files on anyway that makes it bootable

well its my brothers computer and im not sure how big the hd is, and sorry i was wrong with i said pent 4 cos its actually a 3.
i went thru the fdisk routine and it says C is there and active. ext dos part shows also, and i just always thought you had to have an extended part.

Go with Wawadave and remember to put a space between 'format' and 'c:'
You only need ONE partition and that should be the primary dos partion and set it as active.
You only need a non logical partion if you wanted to have C: AND D: partitions on the same hard drive. Most people only have C: (but the choice is yours).

Help, my computer won't let me format. It say, "Drive C: is currently in use by other process."

What does that mean?
