I am attempting to do an "overlay" install of ME over the existing O.S. (I can't do a clean install!) Anyway, when it gets to the part where it saves existing system files, it completes about 85% and I get the message: "Windows cannot backup your system files. Set will end now" How can I get past this hurdle? Thanx

Are you low on HD space?

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

I did an inplace install and this time I did not save system files and everything seemed to turn out OK except that I couldn't open control panel. Seems I had a bad CPL file which I was able to locate and delete. The file came from installation of a wargame and somehow got damaged. Still don't know why Windows couldn't back up the system files during the attempted instal, unless maybe the bad CPL file was the problem.
