I am running Me, IE6.0.2800 with 128-bit security, McAfee Virus Scan, Adobe 5, connected by ethernet through a 4 port router as a firewall(the only computer on the router)and a Motorola Cable modem. My problem is when I connect to a website that is all pdf files for the state that I live in the website opens properly to a list of archived maps and when I next click on the map that I would like to view, they are ftp sites and I can not connect. Refresh does not help and copying and pasting into my browser does not help. I have insured that the SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are checked as well as TLS 1.0. Also the display folder view for ftp sites is selected. I have tried the "use passive ftp" enabled and not enabled to no avail. I have tried by turning off my pop up blocker too but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would further like to say that I have learned a lot from reading all of the posts on this website. Thanks in advance.

Denny,

First, if you are trying to open/look at ftp:// (sites). Do you have the rights-permision-passwor..., to do so? Any type of firwall would have to be configured. {ports, server rights, ect., ect.}

..."My problem is when I connect to a list of archived maps and when I next click on the map that I would like to view, they are ftp sites and I can not connect."...

Have you tried to 'Right-click', 'Save Target As...', for (on) the links. That's if they are all single links, for each 'map'(pdf). Download them to your hard drive. Then look at them, open them. Does that work?? Are they, do they have *pdf extensions? The files that download. Is the 'Adobe' (Acrobat) setup, to open these in IE? What's the link (address), to the page in question? Would know what you are dealing with then. Would make it a little easier to give help, thanks.

Good Luck,
CrazyOne

Crazy One,
Thank you for the reply. The Link is:http://www.dot.state.pa.us/Internet/Bureaus/pdPlanRes.nsf/InfoBPRHistoricCountyMaps after opening if I click on a map a page opens stating "The page can not be displayed" notice. I tried right clicking and pasting into browser and opening and get the same response. I took your advice and right clicked one of the maps, clicked save as and immediately a window opened with a red circle with an X on the left and the following statement. "Internet Explorer can not download Elk_1914 pdf from ftp.dot.state.pa.us." A connection with the server could not be established. So, it must be something with this computer as two different friends are able to open these ftp files without establishing a password. I do have Adobe but for some reason, Adobe 6 does not download and I all I end up with when I attempt to get the Adobe 6 is an Adobe download manager installed. I do have Adobe 4 and Adobe 5 on the computer but do not understand about configuring it to download ftp and ashamed to admit that I do not understand what I would do to the ports on my router to make receiving ftp files if that is the problem. Thanks again....Denny
