I REALLY need some help boys and girls! Everytime I open Windows Explorer I get this weird error. Once the window opens I get an error pop up window telling me the following:
an error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 348
Char: 17
Error: Object doesn't support this prperty or method.
Code: 0
URL: file://C:\WINDOWS\Web\sysroot.httDo you want to continue running scripts on this page
yes/no
In a problem that I figure is related, as they both began happening at the same time (after I uninstalled "MusicMatch"), the image preview on the left of the right frame no longer works. Rather than an icon and info on the file selected I get what looks to be a bunch of binary gobbledy gook.
Has anyone else had this problem and, if so, what caused it and how do I fix it??
Any and all help is HUGELY appreciated!!!
Sincerely,
MonkeyNuts

Do you have "Sysroot" on your HDD? If so what click Properties and list specifics ie; size, created, modified

Try reregistering webvw.dll.
Go to start>>run.
Type:
regsvr32 webvw.dllClick ok.
If all goes well you will see:
DllRegisterServer in webvw.dll succeeded.
Try opening explorer again.

Hello Newgrl,
I tried the soultion that you recommended but things did not go smoothly. When I ran regsvr32 webvw.dll I reveived an error message:
"DllRegisterServer in webvw.dll failed. Return code was Oxc0000005".

Hello Brant,
I searched my machine for Sysroot and it isn't there. Is it supposed to be?
Also, yes, I did edit the registry after uninstalling MusicMatch. I have since reinstalled MusicMatch and it is running smoothly, but the problem with Windows Explorer persists. I'd had MM on my machine for over a year without ever having had any problems. A couple of weeks ago MM began to malfunction so I uninstalled it and then, after many failed attempts, reinstalled it. The problem with Windows Explorer seems to have begun during this process.
Thanks for your help

Reregistering webvw.dll should reextract:
Brfcase.htt
Classic.htt
Controlp.htt
Default.htt
Deskmovr.htt
Dialup.htt
Folder.htt
Fsresult.htt
Imgview.htt
Nethood.htt
Printers.htt
Recycle.htt
Safemode.htt
Schedule.htt
Standard.htt
Starter.htt
Sysroot.httTry booting with a bootdisk.
At the a:\ promt type:scanreg /fix
Once you are back at the a:\ prompt, do it again.
Then boot up into Windows and try to reregister webvw.dll again.
If that fails, I would rename the migration files, rip them out of the registry, uninstall any antivirus/firewall and reinstall Windows ME over the top of itself. You can find the instructions for doing this in this Microsoft KB article:
How to Remove Internet Explorer 6.0 or Outlook Express 6.0 Before You Reinstall Windows (Q312474)
It sounds like something important in the registry either got moved or deleted.
