Is it simple to switch over to xp? What are the conflicts? How do I back up me in the d partition and use c for xp?
thanks again for your help....steve

elsbernd04, does the partition already exist? If so, should simply be a matter of transferring all the files to 'D' and then you can put XP on 'C' (see posts on dual booting).
If you need to create the partition, dunno just what to recommend. My gut says you have a problem, but afraid that's beyond my ken. Partition Magic (commercial proggy) can handle making the partition, but as far as the proggies on the HDD, dunno???

I got a virus a little while ago and accidentally deleted registry keys. Everything was changed to .lnk I cant get into any programs at all or System Restore, etc. I got Windows XP AND WAS TRYING TO INSTALL it but it wont install when I click on install XP. I cant get rid of anything to clear up memory. Anyone that can help, I would appreciate it.

Changing to XP can be easy or difficult depending on your hardware and on the programs you want to use. If your PC is more than 2 years old, my advice would be not to bother. get your ME installation running properly by going to the homepage link on this response instead and you have no need for XP.
This link has all the information you need on setting up dual boot so that you have both systems running if that's what you want to do

Personally, I would wait until buying a new PC and then buy it with XP installed. I have PCs with ME and with XP, upgraded and new, and the older ones tend to be just that bit too slow with XP. I am a great believer in sticking mainly with the OS and the software that is out at the time you buy a PC because it is all written for the technology of the time. It gets messy when you start upgrading this and that.
