I have the pleasure of watching my PC reboot at times when I am printing or when downloading or playing an MP3. This hardware platform (Athlon 500, 128 mb RAM) worked dandy under Windows 98 (that is if you don't count the other standard complaints about 98). Is this a new feature?

Yeah it's new,, Since Windows ME is so nice, they thought they would put something in to piss you off.....

Are you having a heat problem? I have seem that before, where you cpu will reboot under high heat on the processor, also do the norm, scandisk, regscan, and defrag, Try a 3rd party software like Norton to take a look at your registry,

Could also be a hardware problem, make saure you have ALL the updated drivers, and compatible with ME..

Thanks for the reply...

It doesn't appear to be a heat problem. It seems more tied to doing heavy transfers (e.g. printing graphics, downloading large files, running the LAVA player and playing an MP3.) I'm really not sure. All I can say is that this NEVER occured prior to loading ME. Guess I'll have to upgrade to Windows YOU next.

I've read some scuttlebutt about ME and AMD processors and wonder if something is amis here.

Who knows, I'll enjoy using my PC between reboots.

Thanks,

GB

This sounds dorky, but try it, i've seen it work on other systems. Go into power options, and change all the sleep settings to NEVER, then click the hibernate tab and disable hibernate. ALSO, have you run MSCONFIG and shut off EVERYTHING except systray, scanreg, taskmonitor, pc health, state manager and see if it still reboots. check your vid card drivers, make sure they are updated for ME. Vid card drivers can wreak havoc ....

Hope this helps

Blessings
