ME Modem Issue

Comment:
I reformatted and re-installed Windows ME. Everything is up and running except the Modem. I have tried four different modems so the problem is with ME, not the hardware.

The modem is detected fine, the drivers load and it then shows up in device manager correctly.

But, under "Modems" in the control panel, nothing is listed. I can go into Diagnostics, highlight the port that the modem is installed and hit "more info" and I get a successful modem test!

If I go into "Dial-up networking" to configure a dial-up connection, it says "no modem installed". If I install one through there, it still won't show in the modem list. I have searched the knowledge base and have found this same problem but with no solution that worked.

This is driving me bananas (or more so)

What kind of modem is it? You say Windows used torecognize it? Do you have the correct drivers?

You can avoid many of these Windows problems with Linux. Linspire eases the transition for new users

I have tried four different modems, all with different chip sets and the proper drivers. I can go into "diagnosis" and highlight the "empty" port and do a query,it then gives a successful test. However, No modems are listed in the modem list. Dial up networking, insists on adding one, but then it to does not show up.

I hate ME!!
