I'm working on a friend's machine that was pretty heavily virus & spy infected. The _Restore directory is huge, and I want to deltree it. Restore is marked as disabled in the configuration manager, but the directory is still protected. If I boot to a ME/DOS bootdisk, change to the _Restore directory, and try to run the DIR command, the machine bogs down after the first few hundred files are displayed. I tried to deltree the directory, and the machine ran all night and did not complete.

Is it simply a (lack of) memory deal? My DOS experience is slightly above the Novice level, but I never had DOS bog down on internal commands like this. Thoughts?

cjon_too,

See if this is of any use. It's referenced on two other questions, on this first page.

Good luck,
