ME freezing in WMP - solution

I have posted a couple of times on here concerning an issue I had with ME freezing (brrr!) especially when playing mpeg files in WMP. This is just a thankyou to all those who have tried to assist. I can tell you now that the problem is resolved and am happy to reveal all in case any other poor misfortunates suffer the same experience. Apparently, my PC arrived with Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG and there is a known bug with this version. I installed version 0423 last night and the temperature has remained above 0 degrees C ever since. :¬)

Martin, I have that BIOS and have been having some freezing problems too. I'm not too computer literate (that's why I come here and read!). Could you give details of where to get the updated BIOS, how to install etc.

Peter, The supplier of my PC sent me a floppy with the correct BIOS. Unfortunately it's at home (and I'm at work now) but I'll bring it in tomorrow and mail it to you with the instructions that are fairly straightforward. Might be worth checking with your supplier (and/or Award who are responsible for the BIOS) first to see if they think it's a good idea. The freezing I experienced was acute and I could definately pin it down to WMP and minimsing/maximising.
