ME freezing and shutdown problems

Hi, I'm having a bit of trouble with my computer freezing. I've just installed ME, and it used to only freeze with the Internet (I've got IE6),but now it freezes in the middle of a Word document that I'm working on as I'm typing, even though I don't have any other programmes running.
