This may not be the right forum for this question. I don't see one for 'printers'. Please excuse this message if it should go elsewhere.
I use Windows ME and have an HP932c deskjet printer. The printer worked wonderfully for a year and then I replaced the black ink cartridge. Now there is the strange issue: I now get a message that the color cartridge is no the right one (it is right!) I've reinstalled the cartridges, checked connections, turned power on and off and am still getting the same message about the wrong color cartridge (which was never changed!).
Could this be an issue with ME?..or more likely an issue with the printer?
Thank you for your understanding if this is not the correct forum to ask this question.

Completely remove the printer from your system including unplugging it. Then reinstall the software and drivers for it. Maybe even get the latest drivers for your printer if any are available.

Does the printer do it's self-tests correctly? This will get it down to a Windows problem or a printer problem.
The instructions for printing a self test page or two for the 930c series of printers can be found here:
HP DeskJet 930C Series Printer - How to Print a Test Page

Thank all of you for the help. I is kind of you to take the time.
I can't print the test page because my color cartridge is not recognized. Maybe I should buy a new printer. I went to the store and a cartridge cost over half as much as a new printer.
I think I will stop doing any color printing as it is too expensive. Perhaps a black and white world will become the trend unless ink prices reduce.
