Comment:
A mate of mine has trouble loading Windows ME. Constantly getting insufficient memory (he has 128MB) and please close down applications. Has been working ok since December, but now cannot do anything. Last resort is to reboot and lose eveything. Why now and what is it?

Do you mean reformat? Try booting into safe mode by holding down the ctrl key when the computer boots up.

Try booting normally, and clicking Start-->Run. Type "msconfig" and under the startup tab uncheck any unnecessary programs. Also, try running a virus scan as I once had a virus that flooded the memory upon boot.
