ME and XP on wireless network

I bought an Intel centrino laptop and a belkin wireless router. Connected it all up and both laptop (XP) and desktop (ME) surf the internet and pickup e mail no problem through my cable modem. Despite having gone through all of the networking wizards on both the laptop (XP) and desktop(ME) the two cannot see each other. Any suggestions?
