ME and slow folders

Just upgraded to ME from 98 SE. Why does it took forever to open a folder when looking for a file using My Computer. It doesn't when using word etc. 660 Athlon, 128Mb RAM, 32Mb TNT2, 15Gb ATA 100 HD.
