ME and slow folders

Just upgraded to ME from 98 SE. Why does it took forever to open a folder when looking for a file using My Computer. It doesn't when using word etc.
660 Athlon, 128Mb RAM, 32Mb TNT2, 15Gb ATA 100 HD.

Turn off web folders, and menu animation

(view, folder options in an explorer window
