Comment: Just visited Amazon to read reviews of Norton Internet Security 2005 and see if i could get a better price. I have never seen so many horrible reviews for a product on Amazon. I'm currently running NIS2003 because symantec tech told me 2004 would never work w/Me a year ago. Symantec now states NIS2005 is compatable w/everything and i have to upgrade to 2005. Anyone have any experience/comments/advice w/Me running NIS2005. I cannot imagine talking to their techs for another 2/3 days to fix a bad 2005 install.thanks

Reply: (edit)Depending on what you use it for it suggest just splitting things up between different programs. For instance, I use an antivirus (kaspersky) and zonealarm firewall (free). If i wanted parental control, I'd just get netnanny or cybersitter. I'm willing to bet having all three different programs running wouldn't even come close to the monster memory hog that is NIS. Still, horses for courses, right? AMD Athlon XP 1.8GHz 512MB RAM 120GB HDD SATA 12GB HDD IDE GeForce 4 Ti4600 128MB Nvidia nforce2 chipset w/ soundstorm Pioneer DVD/RW ABIT NF-7S Rev 2 Motherboard

Reply: (edit)Yeah, NIS 2005 hoggs way too much memory. I'd say to have at least 384 MB ram for it and to turn off norton if playing games or burning cds. I'd stick with your current norton or another altenative av and firewall company. I also noticed that norton's firewall imapp.exe can freeze ME easilty at startup, although that can be fixed by getting it to run from the startup folder instead of the registry.
