Last Friday installed Windows ME Result Modem speed reduced from 52000 to 31200 according to connection details. Tried downloading the latest driver from www.lucent.com but it did not work and then had to reinstall modem. Any help appreciated.

When I installed ME the operating system changed the drivers for my modem to the Lucent win modem drivers. The first thing I noticed was login speed of 31200 and secondly I kept dropping out. The modem intalled in my computer is a Nettcom modem so I removed the drivers and reinstalled it using the Nettcom drivers and instal disk. It now works perfectly. If only I could now get my network that was working perfectly under 98SE to respond I would be happy!!

I have the same problem. I use Rockwell internal PCI modem. In Win98 it runs steadily at 53333, but after upgrading to ME it only runs at 49xxx with the ME driver. I tried to restore to my old driver but ME wouldn't let me. It said that the modem was already using the best driver and did not recommand any change.

I am using Lucent Actiontec call waiting modem on AOL. After I installed Windows Me, AOL keep saying "The access network failed to properly respond" and keep on the 'talking to network' part of the log-in window. Then AOL is not responding.

I've got pretty much the same problem. My connection speed dropped from about 50K to about 40K after installing "ME". I was going to try reinstalling my old driver, but it looks like that may not be the answer. We probably need an answer from Microsoft of what they have done to cause the problem.

What I did today to my Lucent PCI Call Waiting modem was removed the modem. Next I removed all Lucent files in the Windows directory. You can find the names of these files from your install CD. Then I install again the modem and go through the driver installation using the CD install disk and not from the Win Me.

Try downloading the latest Lucent Win Modem driver - must be version 5.87 (available from 9th October 2000) - I too was having A LOT of trouble with my Lucent Win Modem after installing Windows ME - until I downloaded the version 5.87 of the driver and now my modem works like a dream!!! The 5.87 version of the Lucent Winmodem driver is Microsoft WDM-compliant for Win98, 2000 & Me. I downloaded my driver from http://808hi.com/56k/ltwin7.htm
