We have a 2 year old Gateway with WindowsME. We've been getting a lot of SYSTEM RESOURCES LOW messages when starting Word (Office2K Pro) before the whole PC freezes.
It seemed to have started after I downloaded a font from www.a1fonts.com.
I updated the anti-virus, and ran a scan, nothing found.
I removed the font, and tried a scanreg /restore, but the same error comes up, but only when starting Word. AOL, etc, still works fine (haven't tried other Office programs.)
I used Go Back, and restored to 2 days ago. It worked fine for a day or two, but the same message started popping up again. I removed Office and reinstalled, but no luck.
Any ideas? Or is a format called for? Please let me know if you need any more info. Thanks!

I would start by following the tips given here,by Trev.

Considering the problem you mentioned, pay close attention to Section 9.

And,as you mentioned,it may very well be time for a clean install.

Good Luck

I haven't worked with WinME, but if it uses any of the same principles as Win98, then you can try going to START, RUN, and typing in msconfig, then ENTER. In the dialogue box that should come up, go to the startup tab and uncheck the items you know (make sure you know for sure) should not start up everytime you start your computer. I did this with my Win98 system and stopped getting those low system resource messages. Hope this helps.
