I have 192 MG Ram, 20 Gig Hardrive, Anthon 1.1 Ghz Processor. It amazes me that I have low system resources. What should I do to increase my resources. I have already in my MSCONFIG made sure that I have only the essential programs running. How Can I increase my system resources?

You have a great system and plenty of RAM for ME but this has nothing to do with system resources.

System resources is a limited and small area of memory used by Windows to store various components every time you use a program, e.g. buttons, boxes, menus etc. When you close the program not all the system resource memory may be released and as your work builds up during the day you may run out of resources, or if you open a lot of programs together the same thing may happen (by the way Norton System Doctor hogs these resources if it is running, so shut it down first).

The best cure is to reboot occasionally during the day. I make it a habit (a tedious but necessary one) to reboot whenever a game has been played on any of the PCs for which I am responsible because they can cause havoc with system resources and to reboot whenever strange things start happening, like delays opening things, etc.

However, if you are just reading resource meter and the numbers are going up and down but not causing any problems, don't bother doing anything. :)

It didn't surprise me at all to read about your predicament. I have to reboot about every hour and a half if the computer is online, and only slightly less frequently if it isn't. There's a memory leak in Windows ME, I think, but so far, no patch for it from Microsoft. I've taken all sorts of advice, from choosing my own virtual memory settings, to disabling system restore, and there's still no difference. I have 128MB of RAM, which should be plenty for the meager programs I have running, but my system resources steadily decline. Suggestions are always appreciated!

Just to repeat....system resources are not the same as RAM. You can have all the RAM in the world and still suffer from low system resources.
