I run a amd 850 with 512 megs of memory , 30 gig HD an abit siluro video card and i run out of free memory. This usually happens if i play a game in yahoo and listen to winamp at the same time. Is there a way to tweak ME so i don't run low on resources? With 512 megs i should not run out of memory.

it has to do with virtual memory, not ram.
i use memturbo from memturbo.com to free up ram as needed, I have it set to free up when ram falls to 48mbs and have it free it up to
half of available ram ,so in your case 256.

Eric, first resources is just a very small part of your memory. Second "With 512 megs i should not run out of memory" do you mean your resources get low or your ram is all being used(I dought unless things aren't getting unloaded from memory) Take a look at this post. #9 would be a start for the resources.
Good Luck

I run low on resources, as well, and I have the startup stripped to the bare bones.. sometimes, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of rhyme or reason to what the Resource Meter tells me as opposed to what is running on my computer.

Gerri,

If you don't want to do the registry. Go to

http://www.xteq.com

and download Systems X-Setup. Install it and at "[+]System">>"[+]Memory" Then click "General Memory Settings" Check "Unload DLLs directly" Then click "Apply Changes" close or exit X-Setup and do what it says to do.

I have never had low memory but my dad has sometimes had that problem, especially after surfing the web. You may be talking about virt. mem and temp files dled by IE or netscape can add up after many weeks and cause problems.

other things that may cause problems are memory hungry background progs that you do not know about.

if I were you I would specify the max/min mem size for pages and you can find out about this at http://www.speedguide.net and look up performance links on the page.

I have 320 megs of ram and a pretty low-end pc and never run out of memory even when playing max payne/ counter-strike type games.

mind when I load up counterstrike I have hundreds of maps taking up over a gig os space on my HDD so it is not a small thing. cs takes up some mucho memory. but I am never low.
