hi,

my computer has been in a downward spiral for a while & now just wont boot anymore. i get lots of boxes with things like 'RUNDLL32 has caused an unknown error', 'MSTASK has caused an unknown error', 'STATEMGR has caused an unknown error', 'MSGSRV32 has blah blah blah'. i get about 15 of these & the computer just hangs, doing nothing after the last.

am i looking at a reformat? :( ive got some bits of data on the drive that i'd like to keep, so i'd like to avoid that if possible.

thanks,

PMF

Paul, doesn't sound too good. First thing to do is be sure you don't have some sort of nasty doing things to you. Once you're sure you have a clean machine, you can troubleshoot. My gut's telling me that you are going thru some sort of mechanical failure, but ...
