This is wierd. The computer was running fine untill got into the system tools. I tried the system monitor expecting to see my cpu usage but all I got was a blank grey box with no graph of cpu useage. Then I went into the system information deal and started the registry checker. I got some message instantly that said my pc needs to restart to repair my registry. This message didnt look normal. After the pc restarted, everything was messed up. My desktop turned white with an active desktop error message. I clicked the button to restore the desktop but nothing would happen. I got my wallpaper back by rechoosing it in desktop properties but I get the active desktop error again on the next reboot. I tried to use system restore but it wont open. When I open my controll panel, there are absolutely no icons there. When the pc boots up, there is a split second of small ascii smilie faces in different colors on my screen. No I'm not on acid. I tried a repair install with my ME CD but that dosen't work either. The repair install gets stopped and I get this error "Suwin has caused and error in VERX.DLL." I scanned this PC with up to date Antivir,AVG,stinger, and housecall for viruses. None of these four scans found any viruses. I ran Ad-aware and scanned the hard disk for errors too. Can anyone help me? Thanks

L Mitchal, SWAG, sounds like a virus to me. Despite all the fruitless scans, my guess is that you are one of the lucky ones who has gotten a new baddy that the AV's either haven't figured out how to cure or maybe define/block yet. My advice (not what you wanna hear) - be patient, give 'em time and things should improve. HTH. Ed in Texas.
