reinstalled windows Me 4 days ago and things are running fine except for one thing. When I turn on computer, desk top comes up and then local disk c,d,e and f windows open up.I close them and then everything runs fine. How can I stop this?

Take a look see at these two registry keys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Opening folders at boot usually indicates garbage present in one of these keys. For example if something looks like "c or other weird for value, delete it.

Take a look at these KB: Q179365, Q188867

This last will tell to uncheck everything in startup tab of msconfig then reboot and see if problem still exists. If not, start rechecking/rebooting until problem returns.
