loading cd rom driver

my friend deleted the cd rom driver from her computer, we have re formatted the hard drive and cant load the driver for the rom. the driver is oakcdrom.sys for oti 9x1 the windows me start up disc works though the system wont load cd rom driver and aborts windows me installation. please help this friend is elderly and this is computer is her window to the world. it is a p3 588 mghz 13 g hard drive
you need a windows start-up disc, Windows 9x/ME start-up discs come with cd-rom detection. You should always keep the start-up disc handy, windows setup always prompts to create one!
An original Windows ME CD-ROM may autoboot from CMOS, if you select to boot from CD-ROM with the CD in it.

i have a me start up disc it will reboot computer but will not pick up cd rom have found driver on net and copied to start up disc and blank disc it wont work
try to use ultimate boot disc that enables CD-rom to install windows...(jimi_l posts here from time to time location where to download it) but just be carefull, i did read about a case that it did reformat HD widout giving much warning.. i have good experience with it on my windows 98 computer Regards Miro
