Is there anyone has a laptop connected to their audio Head Unit in their car? Are you using it in the area of MP3 or Internet surfing or Navigation (GPS)? I am actually very keen to install a GPS Navigation system in my car; I am talking about those with voice prompt, something like the VDO Dayton MS 5000 ($3500+ Australian Dollars) in car navigation system. But as we all know this VDO Dayton navigation system cost quite a bit and all you get is music and navigation. But if you spend that amount of money to get yourself a nice and slim laptop, then all the sudden your car is literally connected to the world. And we can all forget about getting those expensive DVD player, PS2 or even those small little 6” screen to fit into our car.
BTW, has anyone here have internet connection in their car? Gee, imagine what will that do to your car’s re-sell value. Am I a bit crazy or there are a lot of you actually thinking the same thing as I do?PS. I actually posted this question in one of the Australian Car Audio Forum, but somehow no one seems interested at all. So I decided to try it here.
Cheers,
Blue

I thought about doing something like this: http://www.mobileworld.com/feature.html. But this would be a great idea is you are just planning to check e-mail and some light-surfing. Imagine what you could do while on a 2 hour traffic jam.
I think it will be just a matter of time before you start seeing this on a regular basis.

Well guess what Blue..this is what I do for a living. In my car I have a laptop connected to the outside world via a CDPD (Cellular Digital PAcket Data) network. although the speed is less than desireabe at this time. It works great for the vehicle tracking system that I have, and the occasional surfing while in a traffic jam. In Australia there are great systems available too.
