I've been having some problems recently with my keyboard or mouse locking up, while the system continues to operate ok. It's often one or the other that freezes, but sometimes it's been both. It tends to occur when using an application such as internet explorer, word, games etc.

Thinking it may be a virus i ran a scanner & it found a virus called HTML.REDLOF.A, which i've fully removed. however the problem's still there so dont know if the two are related. I've also installed spybot recently and removed what it found- problem started to occur shortly after this (again not sure if two are related or not).

I've done the obvious things such as check connections, if there's enough free resources, if the systems overheating etc, but all seem fine. Have also tried system restore to a point before problem, but no change. Any suggestions?

Thanks

I would advise you to install this:

Keep process explorer open while you use your computer and see if a program is monopolizing your cpu at the times when your keyboard and/or mouse freeze. (You can use alt+tab to view it if your mouse freezes or use your mouse if your keyboard freezes).

Are you using software (besides Windows native drivers) to control your mouse and/or keyboard?

I have read that Go-Back (was Roxio, now part of Norton System Works) can cause similar trouble.
