I have a HP pavilion mx50 computer using window ME, sparing the legthy story, the keyboard is damaged. My friend gave me one of her old packard bell keyboards to use until I can get another keyboard. Just to write this message I am using onscreen keyboard, I am in college, and need to get this keyboards driver but i have not a clue what driver it needs, or what kind of keyboard it is (looks like a standard packard bell, maybe 1997?) this computer is my partner in college can't do my research papers without, can anyone help me figure ot how to get this keyboard up and running with right drivers for it..is there a combatable driver for this? would appreciate any help!!

Don't know anything about packard bell but here's a link http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/9725/pbpentium.htm

Hi Blueyedtiggr.
Is there a label on the bottom of the keyboard with the model number on it?
Here is a website - click on Keyboard.http://www.packardbell.co.uk/support/node201.asp
Take care,Linda

No luck with either webite, they seem to only be for packard bell systems, and all newer versions. I'm trying to get a older model key board to work on my HP, and the two of them may not be combatable. Linda, I looked on the back of the keyboard, there is a white sticker on the back with a number on it...711020086
D.2 O-2
I don't know enough about any of this to say what that # represents.
if anyone can further help I would apprciate it... thank you in advance.
thank you both for the websites, but I couldn't find anything on them to help.Blue

It's a keyboard... if it is even semi-standard, you shouldn't need to download a driver of any sort. If it has extra keys, it may need software to work the extra keys, but not a driver.
If you boot into DOS with a bootdisk, does the keyboard work?
Does it plug in PS/2 or Serial or AT?? What happens when you attempt to use the "new" keyboard? If it is PS/2, is it plugged into the correct connector on the back?

Sorry I don't know to much about DOS and boot disks... dummy here. this keyboard is standard, but the one i got with the computer had a bunch of special keys. the only disks i got with my computer are restore cd's. Every time I try to type it just beeps. i tried to install new hardware just to see my options, but it s not detecting diff. keyboard...don't have a clue here...be gentle..lol
