Hi,
A friend of mine found he had a trojan horse dialler virus and so switched off his PC (running Windows ME) and called me (thinking, wrongly, that I know about computers).
When I rebooted it, AVG comes up with an error message reporting the virus and says "type C to continue or R to restart". Unfortunately, the keyboard is dead at this point and I can't type either (or any) letter.
So I switched off and rebooted and hit F4 to get into the BIOS. The keyboard works fine and I can modify the BIOS without problem.
So I booted from a floppy - that gives me a number of options - none of which I can select because again, at this point, the keyboard doesn't work. The default value on timeout is "Help", which goes through a boot process and then into a DOS file - from which I can't escape.
Has anyone got any ideas how I can boot ?
I'm assuming the keyboard is okay (it works until I exit the BIOS). Is that fair ?
All ideas appreciated. I'm supposed to go round again tonight to fix it ;-(
Thanks

hello
try rebooting to safe mode.goto device manager.
remove keyboard from device manager and reboot.••• Resistance is invigorating!••• kill spyware

How do I get into Safe Mode ?
I seem only to be able to use the keyboard to access the BIOS.
Is there some function key to press ?

Thanks for your help...
I can boot to Safe Mode, however once there, I am presented with three options - Normal, Logged and Safe.
Again, the keyboard doesn't function so I am not able to select any option (not even <RETURN> works).
Any ideas what's wrong ? How can I boot ?
