Keyboard characters reversed

Hi folks,
Been meaning to post this for a while......not a major problem , just annoying !!
For ages now , the " character and the @ character on my keyboard seem to have swapped round. The lower case characters(the ' and the 2) are fine , just the upper case.
Also the £ symbol has become # I can get a £ by using ALT 0163 but it can be a bit of a pain sometimes.

ANY IDEAS ???

It seems likely that you're no longer using the British keyboard layout - check in Control Panel, Keyboard Properties, Language

Echoing jboy: keyboard language settings... perhaps you've ended up on the USA/Canada version as opposed to the UK version?

Jennifer - I tried that first....same problem on new keyboard....got 2 now.

jboy and trvlr - BRILLIANT !!
Direct hit.....US version !! Took 10 seconds to fix and all working fine now.

Many thanks for your help.
P.S. want to buy a keyboard?
