Do you have a working machine with internet access? I can send you a copy if you can reply to my email with a valid email addy. Kernel32.dll is in one of the *.CAB files - can't remember which one . . . you need a working copy of ME and the Sysinfo application to extract it, (or alternatively you can use the extract.exe tool from a DOS window and manually extract it)

Why do you think that kernel32.dll is messed up?

Are you getting a lot of error messages in it?

Generally speaking... 95% of the time... replacing kernel32.dll will not help the error messages. Errors in kernel32.dll are usually a symptom of something else going on. A 16bit program trying to access memory incorrectly... spyware... a virus... a broken program....

Tell us what's going on and maybe we can help.

Also... if this started recently... consider system restore (Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>System Tools>>System Restore). This utility *should* let you go back in time to before all of this started happening.

Oh, thank you both... I haven't checked back in, like, two, three days, I know... sorry... been busy-likes...

Why do I think it's messed up? Uhmmm, maybe because of this:

"I wanted to see how it looked like one day (a bout of curiosity--I gettem a lot) and opened it in wordpad, then I foolishly left it on the screen and this lil' toddler person, ahem, came up while I went to use the... potty... and she's a smart lil' thing, figured out how to exit and save from watching me do it many times...

"So I come back from the refresher and she's just pressed > to save the changes to the system file... so I take a look at the screen while it's saving (it takes a long time sometimes, don't ask why...~??~) and I notice lil' globs of gibberish all over the screen that I was sure were not there before... and i don't think it was the same page as it was when i left it...

"So, er, i dunno if it's localized or if she'd managed to doo-doo the whole thing... ack, I just dunno... the system seems to be working tolerably well, so i guess it wasn't too bad. A few things just warble up on the screen freeze, so I just tried to find alternate programs... I tried to find those globs again, but I'd scrolled imprudently last time, and I can't remember which page it was again, and I can't find it as of yet... so I figured it'd be better just to request a new one."

*slaps hand over mouth*
Okay, that's enough for me. In a nutshell, i witnessed its mutilation. *s*

Yeah... I tried System Restore, but that got rid of this nice lil' pgrm that I'd just borrowed from a pal @ school and installed, and I have no idea where she lives... ~whines~ And I wanna keep that program! :-) It's purty big, too, so can't back it up... dunno if it restored my kernel file, tho.

Now, err, about that *.cab thingy... what's a Sysinfo? and for the manual extraction, do i hav to restart in ms dos mode w a boot disk or just use the whatchamacallit, dos emulator, or something?

uhm, if explaining it is too much trouble, then can youse please kindly just send a copy to the email attached to my "name?" (sarephina8224@yahoo.com) stuart, u don't mind me emailing u, do u? Just ignore me if u do, k?

Well, thanks again!
:-)

I used to have the errors all the time too... The solution wasn't replacing my kernel32.dll but in adding/deleting/modifying my root files. Go to this URL for all your kernel32.dll problem solutions:
