Kernel32 error in aol 9.0 setup

I am unable to upgrade to aol 9.0. error occurs everytime setup initializes. I have tried EVERY suggestion I have found, ran all diagnostic tests, adware/spyware/virus scans, memtests. I have deleted all previous aol files/ repaired IE6.0, installed all available updates, etc. etc. all to no avail. ANY other advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
