Whenever I download a song from kazaa, I always virus scan it first before opening, just to be safe. My question is this, while you are still downloading a song in kazaa, you can play/preview it. I like to do this sometimes cos not all the songs are actually what they say they are. Anyway I am wondering are you actually opening what you have downloaded so far, thus opening yourself to the possibility of a virus, if it had one. Or are you just streaming the song from the user you are downloading from. It will only play a bit of the song though and will not play it at all if you havnt got far into your download. So that makes me think that it is not streamed but infact being played from the file downloading. I know nothing about streaming, so just a guess about that bit. I would like to know if anyone can help. Thanks alot.

Oh also, I like kazaa, and got rid of the nasties with a dummie file, so please do not tell me how awful it is and to swap, I just would like some help please.

Yes you are opening part of what you have already downloaded, but I don't think you have much to worry about in the way of virus's. I'm not aware of any virus's that can be transfered via mp3.
By the way Kazaa is alright as far as file sharing goes, but it is slow and full of file virus's. If you want some lihghtning fast and fairly safe file sharing, get mIRC.
I've got a cable modem and I can download an entire cd, in one file in about 5 minutes, and thay are always what they say they are. Please use the "Alert Me" button in the top right hand corner of this post if I can assist you further.
