My computer is going on its third year, and I have never had any trouble with it until recently. When my computer has been turned on for more than 2 hours and I have 2 or 3 windows open, my mouse cursor begins to jump around the screen, and my mp3 files tend to skip. I have tried deleting some files on my hard-drive and defragmenting, but these have not helped the issue. A friend suggested that it may be my virtual memory, and that I should upgrade to more RAM... he also suggested abandoning Me and going to Windows XP. I would like to exhaust all other options before I try those. My system performance reports that I am operating with 50-54% free when it starts skipping... i don't know what this means, but i have been told that it shouldn't be skipping at that level. Help!

You may have picked up a few hidden Spyware_AD-ware programs or even virus programs. You need to check this out with a good up to date online virus scan and an ADware/Spyware scan. Then remove a few junk programs. If you only have 64MB of memory adding an additional 64Mb or 128Mb would make a big difference on an old system.
But first, download, install, update and run the free spyware/adware removal tool AD-Aware_v6.
Second, work your way through my list of Windows ME Fixes . (You can skip the memory test stuff as your machine is working OK.)
