I was infected with js/iestart, and the McAfee program cleaned it immediately; the problem is, it had replicated itself on C;\restore, and now that exe. file is gone, and system restore won't work. SO I did a complete system recovery, but guess what, it still won't work --- what can I do now? (There is NO checkmark beside "disable system restore"...)

Best thing to do at this point is to boot the system with a Windows ME startup diskette and delete the C:\_RESTORE folder. This will clear all the old and now corrupted system restore files. Then you should be able to enable system restore.

Boot from diskette and at A: prompt:

A:\} DELTREE C:\_RESTORE

thanks for your response, but now my start-up diskette won't work... aghhh!
I will have to make another one and then try your suggestion.

I should have mentioned that the system restore screen comes up, and I can get to the "restore to an earlier date" screen, BUT when I click on an earlier date, I get a message that says "please click on an earlier date"..... for some reason it doesn't recognize the earlier dates I have set.....

I don't know why I paid for a McAfee virusscan, only to have this one slip through and cause all this trouble....!!

Thanks for any help!
