The group helped me resolve a problem with malfunction of Internet Explorer (Version 6) I have established the problem had nothing to do with my browser but because Microsoft are no longer supporting the Java Virtual Machine. This means visiting some sites will result in problems displaying Java Applets contained on the site such as menus and text scrollers. Can anyone explain the Microsoft rationale for the decision ? Does it only apply to earlier versions of Windows such as my beloved Me and not Xp ? It really is frustrating

All I know was that it was a spat between M$ and Sun over Copyright.
Easiest solution is to install Sun JRE:

Thanks franki.Much appreciated the link although I had already fixed the problem by following the very route you suggest. After installation I.E works like before although the negative experience has made me use other browsers which may not be a bad thing in the long run :-)) What amazes me is that the problem has not had more exposure. It seems to only apply if I.E has been upgraded to 6.0 from 5.5. Microsoft are very low key with suggesting a fix.Could you point the way to any material discussing the Sun/Microsoft spat that I can browse?
