Just curious. Usually when I have a problem I use housecall.antivirus-check. That page seems to be down for the moment so I'll ask the question here instead: No matter which page I am at there is always the same commercial-popup coming up once in a while, always the same ad = "This is what others can see on your computer! Your computer is spying on you! Get cleanbrowser now!". I didn't care about the link in the beginning, just though it was a popular ad on some page I usually visit. But after a few days I realized it came up no matter which page is were at. And another thing: Whenever I type in an URL that doesn't exist, same lame "search page" (http://www.yoursearch.org/search/index2.htm) comes up as an frame in the browser window.
Is this some bitchy "virus" from yoursearch.org? I got supspicious when I read this: http://www.yoursearch.org/search/undo.html

I know (cos I am the only one using this computer) that I havn't asked for "search improvements". I hate that kind of stuff...
Im using IE5.

Try cleaning your cookies, usually thats where pop ups come from. Also make sure anything youve ever downloaded and installed didnt have some garbage adaware, or browser enhancer type of software with it. Shouldn't be a virus though.

How do I clean the cookies? What If I push the big "Restore weboptions"-button? =)
Will it remove all my bookmarks too?

Hi there,

The pop-up your seeing is about a x-10 spying monitor/camera(I guess, because I get the same crappy pop up at almost every turn), I just wait while my page is loading up, and keep my mouse in the task bar area, you'll see the darn thing pop in, just place your mouse over it, right click and close.

Try window washer(www.webroot.com) it will clean out your puter without screwing you up.

I wouldn't restore at this time.

Good luck,
Erin

A nice pop-up stopper can be had at www.panicware.com for free. Works good for me.

Look for the pop up in your registry and delete it.

X-10 has put out this link to prevent their pop-up adds: http://www.x10.com/x10ads.htm
Don't delete the cookie it leaves after this and it will last for 30 days (maybe delete the current cookie prior to setting this one). Then, after 30 days, reset the cookie. It is not in the registry if it is X-10 and there is no spy ware with their add. Other pop ups can occur and may even do a set up file in your start up - check that through run/msconfig.

Anna, go into internet explore, on the menu select Tools, then internet options, under the genral tab click settings in the temporary internet files section. click VIEW FILES, this will open up a new window, listing all of your cookies, and temp internet files, I keep this really clean, go to EDIT, SELECT ALL, then right cclick one of the files and select DELETE, this is all good, all of these files are just eiter COOKIES which help to track 1)your surfing habits, or 2) who you are on certain websites. For example if you are a member of a website and you have selected that website to remeber your user name and password info it will store a cookie on your computer. This will not do any damage and is the simplest of solutions posed in here. If this doesn't work then you may want to try another option, but this should do the trick. Good luck
