I am trying to find where you locate all of the programs that are on WindowsME. In XP, there is a task manager, you click on the process tab and you can view all of the programs. I want to cross ref this list with a list of programs that are inserted by websites to encourage pop-ups. I can then delete the non essential programs and eliminate pop-ups. I am skeptical of some of the po-up busters b/c some actually trigger more or track your usage...can anyone tell me how to find all of the programs on ME? Thank you...

I am ready to throw the computer out of the window b/c I am insane from the pop-ups!! I just loaded spyware s&D and now am getting pathces from MS in my e-mail that my ISP deletes b/c of viruses...overcome one hurdle and get another! :)

As the above, or ...

Start >> RUN >> type, taskman

And use a Mozilla based browser.

Kim, those patches from MS are NOT from MS. be happy they are being deleted.

the tasklist shows everything running whether it is desirable or not.

mozilla will block popups. or you can download popupstopper.

Check this utility out:

http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml

It will show you all running processes. I think you will be surprised to see some that are not listed in the task manager. Why this is, I don't know.

The Windows ME Task Manager that you get with Alt-Ctrl-Del does not show all the active Tasks. Spyware programs hide themselves and often do no show up in the list. The WinTop tool will show you all the active tasks.

You can also go to System Tools - System Information utility and in the programs listing will be all of the running programs. There is also a list of all the loaded programs and DLL's.

But for getting rid of spyware and popup's run AD-Aware_v6 and/or SpyBot_S&D
