i tried google for advance search and it doesnt show that its spyware. i did put on hijack this and it doesnt bring it up as a trojan etc. hijack this did bring up spybot as an issue but hijack this is way advanced for me so im leary of deleting anything until i read more on it. this advance search hasnt tried to hijack my brouser as ive had that happen before and i had to restore everything.
i do have a registry cleaner so i can tell usually when something is added. aol though adds something constantly, thanks for your help

There are all sorts of Advance(d) search hits. Some are legit but this one is spyware (I Googled "Advance search spyware"):

i cant get to that computer until tomorrow
but the soon as i can i will follow those instructions completely. ill see if i can copy the info on (hijack this)etc so others can see if they have it. the aol spyware never picks up anything yet spybot finds a media ad everytime i boot up whether im on this computer or the other. im thinking maybe aol is bundled with the media ad. i never go on any of aol shopping sites
ebay or the rest. ive tried to delete anything that says shopping but aol will just put it back on. thanks a lot for all the help

both computers had the advance search on them. i used hijack this and it got rid of it. it was a tool bar 03. then i used the registry cleaner and cleaned files etc.
on the windows 98 computer there was over a 100 extensions that the registry cleaner said was useless. anyway i deleted all of it. but the spybot on the windows me computer would notload right. parts of it would open. i just removed it and figured put a new one on. i think that advance search had already messed it up.i used that immunize from spybot on both computers but i dont know if it will block this advance search from getting on comp. i just know the aol spyware that comes with aol does not work

Sounds like you fixed it, so thx for popping back. Not sure how it got through. Ad-Aware, SpyBot, AV & Firewall ought to keep this sort of stuff out.

i think (advance search) etc get through as i disable macaffey virus that comes with aol when i down load programs. if i dont i have a lot of problems downloading. i close every program but a lot of times i have to uninstall macaffey.i have also tried various programs or drivers and kind of learn as i go. i did get that 101 search optimizer mess that more than hijacked everything but i had mcaffey on then and it didnt stop it. since i put spybot on that 101 hasnt invaded my comp. i have a windows 98 comp and i dont have any info on it anyone would want. im basically trying to up/download and figure out my digital camera. so if any of the virus do hit again i can come on computing net and fix it or use the restore disks. all problems ive had with my comp and friends comp have been fixed through the advice of someone on this site.
