Asus A7A266 motherboard, AMD XP1700 processor, 512 Mb Ram (2 x 256 SDRAMs)
System as above works fine, upon installation of extra SDRAM get: blue screen, Windows protection error. Restart: gets a bit further, then all falls apart, VXD errors etc.
POST memory test is ok. Asus manual says 3Gb is supported, SiSoft says 512Mb is max supported, Microsoft seem to suggest Me supports 1Gb?Have tried setting MaxFileCache in Vcache in System, ini to 512Mb: no blue screens but gets to log in screen then reboots cyclically. No point limiting Windows memory usage to 512Mb as I'm not dual booting.
Anyone got 768Mb in Windows Me? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance...

andy - click start>>run type msconfig then click the advanced tab and you will see a line that says "limit memory to" - make sure it says 768 or more (or whatever you're trying to run)reboot and best of luck.

I've got 768mb of RAM with Windows ME. I didnt have to change any settings and it works fine. Windows does recocgnize it and does use it, but I havent noticed any diference past 512mb of ram.
