hello with computer off plug it in .turn ipod on. restart computer. it should show up in my computer. as for d/ling songs into it. try opening its icon in my computer see if it shows a directory or file system for it. windows media player has an option in it to d/l to external player at least wmp9.so dose win amp.the new music match juke box may as well. i have not use an ipod so google may help you more.
