Try Going to control panel >> folder options >> click the "view tab"

Put a dot next to "show hidden files and folders"

Uncheck, hide file extesions for known file types.

Uncheck, "hide protected operating system files"

Then go to Start >> Run >> type, msconfig and click the "Extract File" button.

In "specify the system file you would like to restore" put, IPHLPAPI.DLL >> click Start.

In "Restore from" put, C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\INSTALL

Or failing that:

C:\WINDOWS\OPTIONS\CABS

In "Save file in" put,
C:\Windows\System

Click Ok, Now when it asks you to overwrite and save the original file, say yes. It will put the original IPHLPAPI.DLL file in MSconfig Backups.

Does that work ?

If not, try doing the same only instead of putting IPHLPAPI.DLL put, MMTASK.TSK

That's MMTASK.TSK

Now. All you've done is replaced the two files that were generating an error message and replaced them with new versions. You have the Backups for them both so they are easy enough to swap back if need be.

I fix this problem with the hotfix download from the url http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;279866. Maybe this problem is common. I tried the solution in the response 1 and not fix the problem.
