I have a network on two computers, they are also sharing internet access, I want to know the ip address of the actuall internet access not the network.
When I type winipcfg in the start>command, the computer gives me the ip of the network. If I try to view (PPP) ip address, the computer gives me 0.00.0.0.0

Well, "IP address" (Strange name btw),
I would suggest sending yourself an email. Okay, I know it sounds dumb, but then right click it and find out where your email came from, your ip address! Not sure if that's what you wanted, but good luck. Let me know if it works. Or, if you have trouble finding which number's which, email me from your computer and I'll tell you your ip address.

Once again, good luck!

there are online ipnslookup.htm lookups as well as neotrace, that will give you your ip address.

or if you have mIRC you can type /dns yournick and press enter and it will look it up to your hostname, then enter your hostname
/dns hostname and it will resolve to your ip
address also.

The PPP IP address is the address assigned to your 56k Modem.

If this is the client, and not the host, the PPP adapter will not be assigned anything, only the NIC.

How do you get online? What is your network setup? Which computer are you trying to get an IP from... client or host?

I am assuming that you have DSL... if you don't and you have a dial-up account (56K)you most likely have a dynamic IP. This means each time you log on or disconnect and log on again, you will have a different IP. If you do have a static IP (usually for DSL)you can call you ISP and tell them you need your IP address.

I hope this helped!
