I was having all sorts of problems so I
decided to windows/command/ format C: I guess
I reformatted the hard drive . My computer
came installed with ME. I never made an
emergency disk. Now, when I start the comp.
I get the ole' invalid system disk, replace
the disk and press any key. I don't even
have a prompt. What do I do?

Get a DOS BootDisk from somewhere. Start over by using FDISK, then Format you drive (or partitions). Then load your OS.

hello
you can get a m.e boot didk at www.bootdisk.com
and at the a:sys c: click enter might let you in when you reboot
or at the a:format c:
if you want to format.
have a nice day

thanks guys but to no avail. I now have an A
prompt. But nothing happens. I typed in the
a:sys c: and nothing happens. I pulled up
the c prompt and it says that the volume is
30....(its a 30 G hard drive). apart from
that nothing at all. Just a prompt flashing.
Win. M.E. is factory installed on the comp.
when I got it. Is it safe to assume that I
need to find "Windows ME" on my coputer and
install it from my a prompt. I'm in a real
pickel here. What do I need to do.
Remembering that win me came factory
installed on my computer. Thank you very much.

I have a clean formatted c drive and with the
emergency disk I'm at an a prompt (blinking).
My O/S (win me) came preinstalled on the
computer? How in the world would I access it
from here? I don't think I can, can I. I
type c:dir/w and it says that basically it
doesn't exist. Still stumpped. Please help.

first question...was/is there another partition on your drive
at your A:\ prompt
type d: press enter or cd d: enter
it looks as though you know how to search...like dir, attrib /s, ect.
if it wont let you switch to other partitions...doesn't look good..just an opinion...someone should be able to help

make, model, setup, ect.

If you formated your hard disk it takes everything off including your os. If you have a restore disk for os try starting the computer with it in the cd tray and see if the computer finds it when it boots, if so then you should be able to restore your os.
hope this helps.
